Chapter 1
This chapter was an introduction to the basic ideas in the digital security realm, much of which was covered in more detail in CIS-180 and to an extent, in ethical hacking. The book walked through a number of recent security breaches of various kinds in order to show the breadth of the problems encountered in the real world lately, then looked at some of the issues behind these, how they are broken down in terms of the facets of security problems had and why the digital security field is expanding. We were given the terminology typically used in the field as well as the legal and economic issues surrounding security work.The book then went through the types of attackers commonly found opposing a security pro, how an attack is generally carried out and the various defenses used to counteract them.
